Friday March 27, Ben Asher and I were lucky to have enjoyed a unique Hong Kong experience: the Rugby 7s!
16 teams from every continent in the world traveled to Hong Kong Stadium to play Rugby for the 40th Anniversary of the Rugby 7s in Hong Kong. The Rugby 7s are 7 players-a-side Rugby who play for 7 minutes each half. So the games only last for 14 minutes, with a break in the middle.
Although the fast paced games were fun to watch, the Opening Ceremony was amazing! Giant dragons floated in the air, long multi-person lions danced across the field, and an awesome drum corp played while lions danced around them!
Asher loved cheering on Australia, Canada, and the US. Asher especially liked watching the Canadians play because he was lucky to have been able to train with the team at his school, CDNIS, the weekend before the games.
But our favorite game was the Fiji vs. Samoa game. Fiji won the entire tournament! They were amazing!
