Happy Year of the Ram . . . or the Sheep . . . or the Goat! We think something might be a bit lost in translation, but as far as we can tell, it is the Year of the Ram.
Chinese New Year is the largest celebration in Hong Kong and Mainland China. It is also called the Spring Festival in China, as well as the Lunar New Year.
‘
Chinese New Year (CNY) occurs on the first day of the first month of the lunar new year. This year it happens to fall on Thursday February 19th and lasts for 15 days. It is the biggest holiday of the year.
The amazing thing is the incredible number of beautiful and festive displays for CNY. There are good fortune signs, red lanterns, lei cee envelopes, firecrackers, boxed gifts, golden Ferrero Rocher chocolates, individually wrapped mandarins, beautiful green bushes covered in orange mandarins, sheep here, and some goats there.
Decorations are in the streets
In the Squares
In the hallways
By the water
In the office buildings
Down the stairs
In the shopping malls
And dangling from the sky
Red lanterns are being made in the schools
